On December 5-7, 2022, the 6th round of negotiations on the conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU member states on the one hand and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the other took place in Tehran (Iran).
Kazakhstan is represented in the negotiations by the Ministries of Trade and Integration and Foreign Affairs. As part of the EAEU delegation, the participants discussed the content of the document and the parameters of the tariff deal between the interested parties.
Negotiations on this agreement have been actively underway since 2021, and eventually it is expected to form a free trade zone between the EAEU member states and Iran and create conditions for duty-free trade in many types of goods. The document will also provide transparent and predictable terms of trade, in accordance with the norms of international trade law.
Following the results of the next round, the parties agreed to continue finalizing the content of the agreement, including optimizing the tariff part to ensure mutually beneficial conditions for access to the markets of the two countries.
