Kazakhstan intends to increase transit cargo traffic

This year there has been an increase in transit rail traffic through the territory of Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin said, speaking at the plenary session of the XVIII Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia.

In Kazakhstan , formed and functioning
5 international railway and 8 automobile transit corridors. Of these, 3 railway corridors and 6 auto corridors are synchronized with the corridors passing through the territory of the Russian Federation. For 10 months of 2022, the total volume of traffic in the direction of Russia - Central Asia, Russia - China, Russia - Iran and Russia - Afghanistan amounted to 8.9 million tons.

"To further increase the transit cargo flow, we are working on the issue of opening a third railway crossing between Kazakhstan and China in the Bakhty area with the further construction of a new railway line "Ayagoz-Bakhty" and a border crossing terminal," Serik Zhumangarin shared his plans.
