More than 8 million tenge was returned to consumers

According to the results of last week, the Committee for Consumer Protection of Kazakhstan and its territorial departments for consumer protection returned funds for goods in the amount of 8.7 million tenge to consumers of Kazakhstan.

The largest amount of money returned for the goods was in the amount of 1.8 million tenge. So, the client bought a bag in the branded boutique of the Esentai mall shopping center, after which it turned out that the Fendi bag is not new.

The next large sum was the return of 1.2 million tenge for a trip to Turkey. Consumer rights were protected by the Department of Almaty.

Also over the past week, the Departments for consumer Protection of East Kazakhstan Region, North Kazakhstan Region and Mangystau region provided legal assistance in resolving a consumer dispute with Wildberries LLP. The online store did not return money for the goods for a long time or refused to refund money to consumers.

In connection with numerous complaints of consumers of Kazakhstan on the Wildberries platform, the Consumer Protection Committee on September 22, 2022 at a meeting of the Advisory CCP of the member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEC) raised the issue of consumer problems on this platform.

Complaints also continue to be received about the quality of custom-made furniture. For example, a resident of the Turkestan region was not satisfied with the quality of the delivered furniture, and the seller refused to refund the money. In this connection, the regional Department, on the basis of the Law "On Consumer Protection", recommended that the furniture store return money to the consumer for low-quality goods. As a result, the consumer received a refund in the amount of 768 thousand tenge.

A similar situation occurred last week in Astana, the local Department also provided assistance to the consumer and money in the amount of half a million tenge was returned to him.

As told in the Department of Astana, sometimes it comes to court. One of the complaints is related to the fact that the contractor was two weeks overdue in the manufacture of furniture. Moreover, after installing the furniture, the consumer noticed that the legs of the bedside tables are of different sizes. The client immediately notified the contractor about this, but he refused to redo it. In this case, the Department sent a lawsuit to the court for the return of 210 thousand tenge and will participate as a third party.

For your information, since the beginning of September, the Committee for Consumer Protection has received about 1,500 appeals, as a result of the measures, more than 25 million tenge has been returned to consumers.

We remind you that public institutions for the protection of consumer rights and subjects of out-of-court regulation of consumer disputes are active in every region of Kazakhstan. Among them are the National League of Consumers, the Republican Consumer Association of Kazakhstan, consumer Protection Societies in Astana, Atyrau region, etc., the list of which has been approved and posted on the Internet resource of the CCP in the documents section https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mti-kzpp/documents/details/320577?lang=ru
