License plates of cars must now have special elements

Since September 1 of this year, the national standard ST RK 986-2022 has been put into effect.

It prescribes the requirements for license plates and blanks for them, which must have special and additional elements necessary to protect against falsification (forgeries).

The standard was developed by the RSE "Information and Production Center" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and was examined by KazStandart KTRM MTI RK.

The standard ensures the unification of technical requirements for fonts, numbers and security elements on state registration license plates.

Additional elements of protection included the application of unique DMC codes by which police officers will be able to verify the authenticity of license plates.

"Special protection elements cannot be removed from the surface of the license plate by chemical means or physical impact and must be preserved throughout the life of the license plate," the department noted.

In addition, we inform you that the introduction of ST RK 986-2022 will not entail changes in prices for the manufacture of products, as well as additional costs from the state budget.
