On August 19, a regular meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission was held in an online format. The meeting was attended by a member of the EEC Council, Acting Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin.
The members of the EEC Council discussed 28 topical issues of economic integration.
By order of the Council, the Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement on Common Principles and Rules for the Circulation of Medical Devices (Medical Devices and Medical Equipment) in the EAEU was approved. According to the current agreement, from January 1 next year, the participating countries are required to register and examine the safety, quality and effectiveness of medical products only according to the supranational rules of the EAEU. However, the insufficiency of testing laboratories and difficulties with conducting clinical trials jeopardize the timely provision of medical products to the healthcare system of all five countries.
- The Council decided to extend the right to register medical products according to national rules until the end of 2025, — Serik Zhumangarin said.
The issue of amendments to the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles" included in the agenda by the Kazakh side (TR CU 018/2011) entitles a representative of foreign car factories to independently act as an applicant when approving the type of vehicles imported into the territory of the EAEU.
This solution is aimed at eliminating problems with the import of cars.
- The changes will ensure access of foreign-made cars to the domestic markets of our countries in the current conditions. The innovation will allow car dealers of Kazakhstan and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to independently obtain documents for types of vehicles on compliance with the requirements of technical regulations," Serik Zhumangarin commented on the decision of the EEC Council
The members of the Council also decided to extend until December 31, 2023 the possibility of temporary stay on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Space without payment of import customs duties for some goods whose stay without payment ended on December 31, 2022.
Also, until December 31, 2023, the deferral (installment) of payment of import customs duties on the import of certain goods by backbone or city–forming enterprises, which, in accordance with the legislation of the EAEU member states, are supported in order to implement measures aimed at improving the sustainability of the economies of the member states, has been extended.
The next meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission will be held on September 23 in Moscow.
