On June 23, 2022, the Global Summit of World Logistics Passport was held in an online format.
The leaders of the discussions were the Ministers of Trade, Economy, Industry and Transport of the countries participating in the WLP initiative, representatives of international organizations and the business community.
The Summit was aimed to discuss further international cooperation in order to offer businesses the right conditions, information and incentives to unlock the full potential of global trade.
As Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev said during his speech, the transport system is one of the key components affecting the transit and transport potential of the country and Kazakhstan occupies the winning position in the center of Eurasia and can play the role of a transit bridge between Europe and Asia.
The Vice-Minister said that Kazakhstan is working to develop the potential of cross-border cooperation and integration, stimulate the growth of entrepreneurship, create additional jobs and form sustainable value chains through the creation of cross-border hubs. “Over the past few years, the economic feasibility of such cooperation has been manifested in the consistent growth of transit, leading to the development of related infrastructure and industries”, said Torebayev.
“The potential of Kazakhstani hubs is determined by access to the market of the Eurasian Union with a population of 185 million people, the actively growing market of Central Asia is 75 million people, the very promising market of South Asia is about 1.9 billion people and neighboring China is 1.5 billion people,” said the Vice-Minister.
“The result of the creation of cross-border hubs will be to take the most advantageous position in using the opportunities of the economic corridors and transport hubs that run through the Republic of Kazakhstan, which connect the East with the West, the North with the South, and at the interface of a strategic future with the active use of the benefits of international trade and industrial cooperation”, stated Torebayev.
The Global World Logistics Passport Initiative is a global initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed (Dubai) in 2019 as part of the strategic vision for the development of international trade.
