Today, the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted the conference "Kazakhstan and Russia. Current areas of cooperation within the EAEU".
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkin, Rector of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU Yerlan Sydykov and others.
During the conference, the participants noted that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia in the bilateral format and within the framework of multilateral cooperation is steadily strengthening. Cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union traditionally occupies a special place.
According to Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov, by the end of 2021, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation increased by 29% and amounted to $24.2 billion.
"Despite the post-crisis period, we were able to reach peak values of trade indicators between our countries. Today, Russian companies are among the top five key investors in terms of the volume of funds invested in the economy of Kazakhstan ($16.5 billion). In general, 13 landmark joint projects have been implemented in Kazakhstan in cooperation with Russian partners. Another 20 large projects worth almost $ 4 billion are being implemented or are being worked out in a number of key industries," Bakhyt Sultanov said.
It should be noted that since the functioning of the EAEU, Kazakhstan has significantly increased exports to the markets of third countries and the countries of the Union of goods with a high and medium degree of processing. For example, the export of Kazakh processed products to the EAEU increased by 64.3% during the period of the union's functioning. In general, Kazakhstan's exports to the EAEU countries increased by 55.1%.
"Also, in the field of technical regulation within the EAEU, entrepreneurs are exempt from fulfilling additional requirements for product safety, conducting unnecessary conformity assessment procedures. For today, it is enough to get a certificate of conformity in one of the EAEU countries in a single form to trade freely in four other EAEU countries," Bakhyt Sultanov said.
Recall that this year is an anniversary year for Kazakh-Russian cooperation. In October, the countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
