On April 23, 2022, during a working trip to the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov met with First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Arzybek Kozhoshev.
The parties got acquainted with the implementation of the Industrial Trade and Logistics Complex in the area of the Karasu and Ak-Tilek road checkpoints. According to the draft intergovernmental Agreement on regulating the activities of the ITLC, developed by the Kazakh side, internal approval procedures are being carried out and will be sent to the Kyrgyz side for consideration in the near future. Currently, the issues of building the necessary ITLC infrastructure are being worked out.
According to the parties, the creation of the ITLC will favorably affect the further development of bilateral trade and economic relations, will activate business ties between manufacturers and entrepreneurs of the two countries, and will stimulate an increase in mutual trade turnover between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
It should be noted that the concept of creation and functioning of joint ITLCS was prepared in accordance with the instructions of the Heads of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic, following the results of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev to the Kyrgyz Republic on November 27, 2019 and the 5th meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
Also during the visit, the parties raised the issue of transparency of mutual trade. According to the results of the negotiations held on April 19 this year, inspections are carried out only in the absence of an ESF for the transported goods.
Further, within the framework of the bilateral meeting, the parties discussed the upcoming visit
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov within the framework of the meeting of the intergovernmental Council of the two countries and expressed mutual agreement to intensify cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
For reference:
The Kyrgyz Republic is one of the key trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan in the Central Asian region. Among the top priorities for joint work, we see an increase in the volume of mutual trade. According to the results of two months of this year, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan increased by 6.8% and amounted to $126.3 million (January-February 2021 - $118.2 million).
