On March 13, 2022, the decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission on the approval of the Rules for Regulating the Circulation of Veterinary Medicines in the customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union came into force.
The document comes into force only after 2 years, from March 13, 2024.
A two-year transition period has been submitted to the EAEU member States to bring the national legal framework in line with supranational rules.
The Rules establish uniform procedures for registration of veterinary medicines for all countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, uniform requirements for their quality, effectiveness and safety and criteria for their evaluation, uniform procedures for control and supervisory activities in the field of circulation of veterinary medicines.
The full transition to registration under the uniform rules will be carried out from January 1, 2028. Until December 31, 2027, it remains possible to register veterinary medicines according to national rules. And the registration certificates of such veterinary medicines will be valid on the territory of the relevant state for the next five years, that is, until December 31, 2032.
Also, registration certificates of veterinary medicines issued before March 13, 2024, are valid in the customs territory of the Union for the period established in accordance with the legislation of the Member States, but no later than December 31, 2027.
The document will create more favorable conditions for the functioning and development of the common market of veterinary medicines of the EAEU. It will exclude the possibility of taking restrictive measures and the emergence of obstacles in the trade of veterinary medicines.
