To control prices and prevent sharp fluctuations in the cost of socially significant food products, the Ministry of Trade and Integration and local executive bodies monitor an important indicator - retail price thresholds (the methodology and rules for introducing threshold prices were approved back in 2015)
Threshold values of prices for socially significant food products are approved for monitoring and observing price fluctuations and serve as a guideline for assessing the state of market prices for NWT. They are set for each region separately by local executive bodies and do not apply to other regions of the country. To calculate the threshold value of retail prices for socially significant food products, official statistical information for the last 3 years is used.
If prices approach and reach the threshold level, this is a signal for akimats to activate tools to curb price growth: interventions from stabilization funds, an increase in the turnover scheme. If the prices of goods exceeded the thresholds by 15%, then akimats may decide to introduce marginal prices!
Marginal prices are also set for each region separately by local executive bodies. For example, today the size of the maximum allowable retail prices are set in the Kostanay region for chicken meat, sugar, sunflower oil and fruit and vegetable products.
Retail facilities that exceed the set price will be brought to administrative responsibility.
