Kazakhstan's retail chains will not allow speculation
Currently, the Ministry of Commerce receives many complaints from citizens regarding the inability to pay for food through payment cards and online.
In connection with the counter-terrorist operation, access to the Internet was blocked and because of this, it became impossible to make non-cash payments for goods in retail facilities.
We ask you to understand the forced measures that are caused by the goals of stabilization and security, and switch to cash payments during this period until the full restoration of the operation of retail facilities.
In general, by now the situation in the trade sphere in many regions is stable, the operation of retail facilities continues as normal, with the exception of a number of retail facilities in the cities of Almaty, Taldykorgan, Uralsk, Shymkent and Taraz, which suffered as a result of looting.
For reference: 25 Sportmaster stores, 14 Technodom stores, 12 Magnum stores, 11 Sulpak stores, 11 Kimex stores, 8 Mon Amie stores, 7 Alser stores, as well as Intertop, Metro, Violet, Eureka and Kari stores.
According to preliminary estimates, the amount of damage amounted to about 26.2 billion tenge (Magnum - 10 billion tenge, Technodom - 5.5 billion tenge, Sulpak - 5.14 billion tenge, Sportmaster - 3 billion tenge, Alser - 1.5 billion tenge, Kimex - 1 billion tenge, Intertop and Eureka - 50 million tenge).
We also note that there are enough stocks of basic foodstuffs for today. At the same time, all the necessary conditions for uninterrupted food supplies are created by retail facilities with the support of local executive bodies.
In this regard, addressing the residents of the country, we inform them that there are no reasons to worry about a possible shortage of food. Speculation in setting food prices is also excluded and not allowed in the activities of retail facilities.
At the same time, we remind you that on issues in the field of trade, including prices, citizens have the right to apply to local executive bodies (akimats), the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the relevant Committee for Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
