Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will build an industrial trade and logistics complex on the border

Currently, a Kyrgyz delegation is on a visit to Kazakhstan, headed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic A.U.Zhaparov.

The Kyrgyz Republic is one of Kazakhstan's key partners in the Central Asian region and plays an important role in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Integration.

Kazakhstan is among the three main trade and economic partners of Kyrgyzstan by the end of 2020 (3rd place with a share of 14.2%).

The primary task for the short-term period is to restore the volume of mutual trade after the coronacrisis 2020.

Over the 9 months of this year, there has been a positive increase in trade turnover by 8.8% compared to the same period last year (from $625.9 to 680.7).

The countries set a goal to achieve mutual trade volumes of up to $1 billion. and to increase bilateral trade to $2bn in the future.

Building up cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, the parties planned to move on to practical elaboration of the issue of forming a single commodity distribution network with its further integration into the Eurasian commodity distribution system.

On December 7, 2021, the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov and the Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Amangeldiev D.J. signed two documents.

Thus, according to the Joint Action Plan ("Roadmap") for the creation and operation of wholesale distribution centers in the Kyrgyz Republic, specific measures are envisaged, including the determination of the locations of the ORC, the study of the issue of financing, provision of engineering and technical communications and other issues necessary for the creation and operation of wholesale distribution centers (ORC).

The priority documents – the financial and economic model, as well as the concept of the construction of the ORC will be prepared in the 1st quarter of next year.

According to experts, the effect of the proposed measures can be estimated at the level of the possibility of growing exports of fruits and vegetables from Kyrgyzstan by 2 times - from $ 90 million to $ 175 million.

The parties continue to work together to create a cross-border industrial trade and logistics complex (ITLC).

The Joint Action Plan signed today for the establishment and operation of the ITLC in the area of the Karasu and Ak-Tilek road checkpoints is a continuation of the agreements and includes all the preparatory, regulatory and investment measures necessary for this.
