Exchange of standards between Kazstandart and the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology (MASM)

KazStandart met with the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology (MASM) on the territory of the Kazakhstan pavilion Dubai Expo today.

MASM is the national standardization and metrology body of Mongolia. MASM's goal in the field of standardization is to promote the development of Mongolian society, economy, industry and trade by setting standards based on mutual understanding and voluntary agreement.

Kazakhstan and Mongolia have an extensive history of economic interactions. The trade turnover between the countries in the first half of 2021 amounted to $ 33.9 million, which is half more than in the previous year. The growth of exports to Mongolia is justified by an increase in the supply of goods such as dishwashers, equipment for filling and sealing containers, packaging of goods, etc. The main goods imported to Kazakhstan from Mongolia are foodstuffs, non-extinguished postage stamps, stamp paper and other securities, machines and mechanisms for ground work, as well as clothing.

In this connection, it is important to expand the options for cooperation, so it was decided to sign an agreement on the dissemination of national standards. Now both sides will grant each other non-exclusive, non-transferable rights to replicate and sell standards in printed and electronic format. Countries can adopt these standards as national ones, but copyright preservation is strictly regulated in any case.

In addition to the agreement between Kazakhstan and Mongolia, a protocol on the development of cooperation in meat farming will be signed.
