Today, on September 23, 221, a meeting of the Kazakh-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Agricultural, Environmental, Industrial, Technical and Technological Cooperation (IPC) was held in Nur-Sultan.

According to Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev, the main basis of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Austria is trade and economic cooperation.

"We attach great importance to bilateral trade and economic relations with Austria. Austria is one of the important trading partners of Kazakhstan in the European space. Unfortunately, we have to state that, for a number of objective reasons, trade has "sunk" significantly in recent years. Thus, at the end of 2020, the trade turnover between our countries decreased by 10.7% compared to 2019 ($181.8 million) and amounted to $162.3 million," the Vice minister said.

As he noted, first of all, such figures were formed under the influence of the coronacrisis pandemic and the restrictions adopted in this regard.

At the same time, as follows from his report, "for 7 months of 2021, mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Austria increased by 14% compared to the same period of the previous year ($84.6 million), amounting to $96.4".

We increased exports to Austria by 59.1% (amounted to $1 million). And, in turn, imports to Kazakhstan also increased by 16.2% ($95.4 million).

There is a positive dynamics of the resumption of supplies of tantalum from Kazakhstan to Austria (by $ 428.4 thousand), an increase in the export of flax seeds (by 3.7 times or by $116.5 thousand) and fish fillets (by $ 103.7 thousand), as well as the establishment of supplies of Kazakh beryllium, chromium, germanium, vanadium and other rare metals (by $ 142.3 thousand).
