As promised, I am sharing the results of the first day of my visit to Azerbaijan.
He held working meetings with the heads of three departments: the Ministers of Economy, defense industry, as well as transport, communications and high technologies. The" common denominator " of the negotiations is the interest of all colleagues in significantly expanding our cooperation.
The data on mutual trade between our countries clearly show that we do not use the existing potential of cooperation.
At the meeting with the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov, we discussed the possibilities of increasing the bilateral trade turnover. Kazakhstan is ready to increase the supply of metallurgical and petrochemical goods and food products demanded by the Azerbaijani economy in the very near future. Azerbaijan has an interest in our construction industry products, and we have, among other things, in their food industry and petrochemicals.
An interdepartmental Memorandum on Trade Cooperation was signed (the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia). It will contribute to strengthening mutual trade on a mutually beneficial and fair basis. We will cooperate in a wide range of areas, focusing on identifying barriers to trade and finding solutions to eliminate them.
Improving the trade infrastructure is an important point of convergence of our interests. The transport corridors passing through Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are not just an opportunity to develop their economies as transit countries for third countries, but also to enter them themselves with their competitive goods. I invited my colleagues to participate in the implementation of industrial cooperation projects in our existing and planned border trade and logistics centers (Khorgos, Central Asia, Alatau, etc.), as well as in the development of a new trade and logistics hub based on the existing sea port infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.
We discussed the modernization of the infrastructure of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) with the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev. They discussed the interaction between the ports of Aktau, Kuryk and Alat (Baku port) and the processes of creating a single operator for the implementation of the Trans-Caspian trade route. Its task will be to coordinate all transiters on the Asia-Europe route and back and form a single tariff for the entire corridor. The latter is a request from the business itself, for which such a tariff will become a "green light" and will significantly facilitate trade logistics.
The possibility of cooperation in the military-technical sphere was discussed with the Minister of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan Madat Guliyev. Kazakhstan manufacturer of armored wheeled vehicles "Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering" is ready to arrange deliveries and organize maintenance of its products. By the way, this LLP is one of the few companies that produces products with a localization of more than 70%.
Today, our business will present its export opportunities during the Trade and Economic Mission.
A meeting of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission will be held today, where we should check the hours on the most important issues of bilateral cooperation.
I hope that today will bring very productive results.
