Kazakhstan and Turkey discuss issues of increasing investment

Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Tuzcu.

The meeting was organized with the assistance of the Trade Representative Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation.

The parties discussed issues of supporting investment and increasing the volume of mutual trade.

In particular, Kairat Torebayev informed his Turkish colleague about the implementation of cross-border trade and economic cooperation projects.

- According to the new concept, Khorgos International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation will be more focused on trade and the development of related services. That is to say, the emphasis will be placed on the showrooms of various companies that focus their products on the Chinese market. The Chinese consumer will be able to get acquainted with the product and then decide on transactions, - Torebayev said.

At the same time, he noted that the «Central Asia» International Trade and Economic Center and similar cross-border centers on the border with Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation will already be focused not only on trade, but also on industrial cooperation between businesses of the two countries.

Mr. Tuzcu shared the experience of the functioning of similar border centers-free trade zones in the Republic of Turkey.

In particular, he said that such centers are also divided by specialization as trade, industry, and services. The Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey expressed readiness to cooperate within the framework of the experience exchange of the two countries on such centers’ development.

The parties also discussed the development of cooperation in the field of consumer protection, standardization and metrology.

The issues of development of Kazakhstan's investments in the production of roofing sheets and facade panels in Turkey were mentioned during the meeting,

We discussed the upcoming WTO conference in November this year. Also noted the need to reach correct agreements within the framework of the international trading system.

 

The meeting was held as part of the participation of Vice Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev in the «Russia-the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021» XII International Economic Summit.

The Trade and Economic Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh-Russian business forum were held within the framework of the summit.
