The issue of applying any collective measures in response to the sanctions of third countries is not being worked out or discussed at the EEU platform. Moreover, such issues are not within the competence of the Eurasian Union at all and are not on the agenda.
Since the establishment of the EAEU, the Republic of Kazakhstan has maintained the position that this association is purely economic in nature. We are fundamentally opposed to the politicization of our relations within the Union and the adoption of measures that may affect relations with third countries.
It is clear that the sanctions applied against individual countries of the EAEU, to one degree or another, have an impact on the state of the economies of all member States. Taking into account the close economic ties between our states, the issue of developing possible joint measures aimed at minimizing the economic consequences for the economy of the EAEU member states from the sanctions impact on individual EAEU countries is currently being discussed.
I repeat, collective responses to sanctions, economic pressure measures or other types of influence on relations with foreign states are not on the agenda within the framework of the EAEU. This is the principled and unchangeable position of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
