And, according to the representative of the Ministry of Trade, the development priorities of the EAEU reflect the goals of sustainable development:

The main goals and objectives stated in the EAEU Treate are designed to help member States achieve the Sustainable Development Goals at the national and regional levels. The implementation of the main directions of the economic development of the Union until 2030, taking into account the long-term development agenda of the EAEU, will significantly contribute to the further achievement of the SDGs. Moreover, taking into account the actively developing international activities of the Union, the issues of sustainable development can become a key area of cooperation between the EAEU and other regional integration associations, structures and organizations of the UN system.

In conclusion, Kairat Torebayev expressed the opinion that in order to assist the UN member States in achieving the SDGs, it is necessary to continue to integrate the relevant goals and indicators into the Union’s constituent documents, monitor statistical indicators and measures taken by countries to achieve the SDGs, assess the impact of integration on the progress of the EAEU countries in achieving sustainable development, and identify new areas and technologies that can accelerate the implementation of the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.
