According to Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration Janel Kushukova, speaking at a briefing in the CCS, " by opening customs borders, each of the countries continues to de facto protect domestic producers from the competition of other members of the Eurasian Economic Union."
"We face cases of hidden restrictions in mutual trade. Most often, they are set by our partners in relation to products for which there is a high level of competition. In particular, in cases of activation of producers of certain countries focused on exports, " the Vice-Minister said.
Zhanel Kushukova said that this practice contradicts the idea of economic integration, as the Kazakh side has repeatedly reminded its colleagues in the EAEU.
The Ministry of Trade and Integration is working to identify and eliminate barriers to Kazakh goods in the Eurasian Union.
"Today, we can note a record positive trend in the removal of barriers: since 2016, 83% of the barriers that have ever existed in the domestic market of the EAEU have been eliminated (66 barriers have been qualified, 54 of them have been eliminated)," Zhanel Kushukova said.
Overall, the barriers removed since the Ministry's creation are estimated at about $ 100 million.
