The Ministry of Trade of Kazakhstan raises the issue of increasing the reception of cargo through the Chinese border

On April 27, 2021, within the framework of online negotiations between the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov and the Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China Wang Wentao, the issue of deepening trade and investment cooperation was considered.

In connection with quarantine measures in China, there is a problem of long-term idle time of cars on the border of the two countries.

Bakhyt Sultanov raised the issue of China's assistance to resolve the issue of increasing the reception of freight trains through the Alashankou - Dostyk border crossing to 18-20 trains per day, through the Khorgos-Altynkol border crossing to 8-10 trains per day and increasing the reception of empty trailers at the Nur Zholy checkpoint to 20 units per day.

In addition, the Minister noted that an average of no more than 40-50 vehicles (trailers) move through the functioning checkpoints daily to the Chinese side. This quantity does not ensure the saturation of the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union and European countries with Chinese goods. He also expressed hope for an early settlement of the issue of increasing the capacity at the checkpoints.

It is noted that since the end of 2020, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the working body of the Kazakhstan part of the ICBC "Khorgos", including responsible for the implementation of the mechanism for coordinating the activities of the Kazakh-Chinese International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation "Khorgos".

Currently, Kazakhstan is reviewing the approaches to the further activities of ICBC, focusing on the development of processing capacities, industrial cooperation and the global supply chain.

"We invite Chinese investors to actively invest in joint projects on our territory of the ICBC, which will facilitate access for Chinese businesses to the consumer markets of the Eurasian Economic Union," Bakhytsultanov said.

- During the period of operation of the ICBC "Khorgos", entrepreneurs were very concerned about the issue of banning the export of food products (wine, meat, sausage and dairy products, etc.) purchased for personal consumption through the customs post of the Chinese part of the ICBC "Khorgos", - concluded Bakhyt Sultanov.

In his opinion, the opening of a joint accredited laboratory for the certification of goods in the Kazakh part of the ICBC "Khorgos" will increase the efficiency of business activities and mutual cross-border trade.
