Bakhyt Sultanov spoke about the situation of rising prices for socially important food products

Today, on April 12, 2021, a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. U. Mamin, where the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov spoke about the situation to prevent an increase in prices for socially important food products.

Thus, since the beginning of this year, prices for socially important food products have increased by 3.2%. At the same time, over the same period last year, prices increased by 4.8%, of which 4.1 percentage points were due to the introduction of quarantine.

According to the Minister, the prices for NWTP were stabilized as a result of the operational measures of the Road Map for price stabilization. Over the past three weeks, prices for NWPT increased by 0.2%.

At the same time, the" turnover scheme " has increased by 30% since the beginning of the year and amounted to 24.3 billion tenge. The head of the department also said that it is planned to allocate an additional 8.3 billion tenge.

"At the same time, there is still a high growth rate in some regions. As of April 6, most prices increased in Zhambyl region by 4.2% and Atyrau region by 3.8%. The lowest growth - by 2.9% - was recorded in the East Kazakhstan and Akmola regions, " Bakhyt Sultanov said.

Today at the meeting, the Minister proposed the following measures:

- apply disciplinary measures to the supervising deputy akims who allowed the maximum price increase;

- The Agency for the Protection and Regulation of Competition to keep under constant control the issue of preventing price collusion of dominant business entities;

- central and local executive bodies, taking into account quarantine measures, need to strengthen control and take appropriate actions to prevent price increases for socially important goods, especially import-dependent and export-oriented products;

- given that this is the most effective mechanism for restraining prices is the "revolving scheme", the need to bring its financing to 50 billion tenge.

Recall that on March 11 of this year, at a Government meeting, the Roadmap for Price stabilization was approved, which consists of45 measures. The roadmap includes the following measures: inspections and compliance, trade measures, increased production and support for enterprises, as well as legislative changes.
