Competition in the EAEU: the procedure for issuing a warning is regulated

Today, in order to establish the fact of violation of the general rules of competition, the EEC considers applications, conducts investigations, initiates and considers cases, and as a result decides on the imposition of a fine.

«Taking into account that economic entities in case of violations of the general rules of competition in cross-border markets are not given a chance to correct the violation without imposing a fine, the Heads of the EAEU States signed a package of amendments to the Treaty on the EAEU on October 1, 2020, which give the Commission the authority to issue warnings to economic entities» - said Janel Kushukova, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration.

«In general, the new provisions of the EAEU Treaty encourage economic entities to independently eliminate signs of violations of the general rules of competition in cross-border markets» - Zhanel Kushukova concluded

In order to regulate the procedure for issuing warnings, on March 5, 2021, at a meeting of the EEC Council, the EAEU countries approved the corresponding Procedure.
