In Kazakhstan, as part of the implementation of mechanisms for stabilizing prices for socially important food products, akimats are entitled to set maximum prices for socially important goods.
Currently, this right has been used:
- Akimat of Almaty.
The maximum prices are set for:
Buckwheat-361 tg / kg (until the end of February 2021),
Sugar-254 tg/kg (until the end of January 2021, with further prolongation).
- Akimat of the West Kazakhstan region.
The maximum prices are set on December 9, 2020 for:
Potatoes-122 tg / kg (90 days)
Onions-117 tg/kg (90 days)
Carrots-121 tg / kg (90 days)
Akimats of other regions do not use the possibility of introducing marginal prices for socially important food products in the regions.
Since the beginning of the year, the growth of prices for socially important food products in Kazakhstan amounted to 2.3%, which is the highest indicator in recent years.
At the moment, there is a seasonal increase in prices for vegetables (potatoes +6.9%, carrots +5.1%, onions +3.7%, cabbage +0.7% since the beginning of the year) and eggs, which, along with a reduction in production, have risen in price by 10.2%.
The increase in beef prices is due to the increase in live cattle exports (from 4.3 thousand heads in November to 11.9 thousand heads in December 2020).
The increase in prices for sunflower oil is due to the situation on world markets: the price per ton of sunflower oil is 1375-1475 dollars against 700 dollars per ton in February 2020.
The largest growth in the NWT in the context of cities is recorded in Almaty – by 2.8%, Nur-Sultan – by 2.8% and Shymkent – by 2.7%, the smallest-in Kokshetau - by 0.8%.
