Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultаnov met with EEC Technical Regulation Minister Vladimir Nazarenko in Almaty on 4 February.
During the meeting, a number of relevant issues on strategic cooperation and the acceleration of the processes of agreement by the parties to remove barriers to trade arising between the EAEU member states were discussed.
As is well known, a full-fledged common market of products between the countries of the EAEU is established and operates on the basis of the EAEU. The establishment of mandatory requirements in the Union's technical regulations and the application of standards ensure both the safety of products in the common market and one of the key conditions for the free movement of goods.
In line with the requirements of the modern world, which is characterised by new socio-economic challenges, the participating countries discuss how to take a meaningful step - to ensure the effective functioning of the integration association for the early achievement of the Union's main objectives and the development of the association. In this matter the parties need to reach an agreement and clearly outline a common horizon of vision in the field of technical regulation and metrology.
The level of coverage of technical regulations by inter-State standards should be maximised.
A wide set of issues has been discussed in the field of metrology. Kazakhstan generally supports the need for a coherent policy and mainstreaming of measurement uniformity objectives within the EAEU.
The project "Digital technical regulation of the EAEU", which aims to digitalize technical regulation processes, has also been reviewed. The implementation of this project will have a significant impact on reducing the cost of compliance procedures. It should be noted that the MTI has identified KazStandard as responsible for the implementation of the project in Kazakhstan. KazStandard will participate in the consortium to be created and will take an active part in the development of the relevant fundamental documents.
