About exports in 2020

The Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov told about the export of 2020.

Coronaries-2020 has crippled the entire trading sphere, including our exports.

In the first half of the year, it sank due to a reduction in global economic activity: factories and factories were closed, only the medical sector, the food industry and utilities remained in active "working mode". To this, there were also problems with logistics due to sanitary bans (we still feel "covid" difficulties on the Kazakh-Chinese border).

In the second half of the year, trade activity in the world began to gradually recover (thanks to vaccines). If in January-June our losses in exports of processed goods were 8.8%, by December we significantly reduced the gap from last year's figures.

Exports of refined products in January-November 2020 amounted to $13.9 billion, which is only 3.4% less than in 2019.

In total, Kazakhstan's trade turnover in processed goods for 11 months amounted to $46 billion, which is 2.5% lower than in January-November 2019 ($47.2 billion).

If we talk about commodity groups, the largest reduction was noted for petroleum products (by 40.3% or $391.5 million) and ferroalloys – by 12.5% or $218.8 million). Moreover, the export of ferroalloys increased in physical terms (by 5.4%), but fell significantly in money.

It was possible to increase the export of silver, copper cathodes, food products and passenger cars. Both physically and financially, we sold 2.8 times more cars than in 2019 – by $117.7 million. The products also went to plus by code 7208 HS (flat-rolled products of non-alloy steel hot rolled) monetary growth was 7.3%, and code 7210 (flat-rolled products of non-alloy steels plated) is 20.5. At the same time, the physical volume of exports increased by 33.6 and 40%, respectively.

The increase in commodity exports was facilitated by measures to support our producers: from consulting to financial incentives... Export acceleration gave a good exhaust (the total amount in 2021 of contracts for the export of "food" only "accelerator chicks" exceeds 1/3 billion dollars).
In mid-February, we will see the full statistics of trade turnover for the year. If we proceed from the dynamics of the recovery, the losses in the covidocrisis year, I hope, will be minimized.

In general, for non-primary exports (goods+services), we expect a figure above $20 billion. Our goal for this year is to bring it to $29 billion. All the possibilities and tools for this are there. We will try our best.
