Choosing the first stroller for a newborn is not an easy task. The bright colors and richness of the model range are breathtaking. Sometimes you just want to take the first one that comes along, so that the journey through these endless wheelchair rows will finally end. But take your time! An inconvenient, heavy, and clumsy stroller can be a serious problem. In addition, we all know that children's products should not only be comfortable and beautiful, but also high-quality and safe.
In this regard, prams are subject to the requirements of the technical regulations "on the safety of products intended for children and adolescents". Strollers for children must be stable on horizontal and inclined (at an angle of 10°) planes, must have a brake and locking system.
Strollers must not have sharp edges, knots or parts that are in contact with the child. There should be no open holes or slits in the diameter range greater than 5 mm and less than 12 mm. Open strollers must have devices to prevent the child from falling out of the stroller (safety belts, fences and other similar devices), the back of the stroller must be form-resistant.
The brake and locking systems of strollers must be inaccessible to the child in the stroller, or they must be closed and opened simultaneously with two hands or with the use of special tools.
Moving parts (folding handles) and removable parts (bodywork) cannot be triggered automatically from the working position.
Textile materials of strollers must be strong, have a color resistance to friction of at least 3 points on the gray scale of standards.
The exterior upholstery of the closed stroller body must be waterproof or have a waterproof cover.
Handles, belts, staples and other devices intended for carrying strollers must withstand a load of 30 kg. The strength of seat belts, including regulators and locks, must be at least 150 N.
Textile materials used in the manufacture of strollers must meet the requirements of chemical safety in accordance with the appendices to this technical regulation. The toxicity index for tests in the aquatic environment should be from 70 to 120 percent inclusive, in the air environment-from 80 to 120 percent inclusive, or there should be no local skin irritant.
Determination of harmful substances contained in materials that come into contact with the skin is carried out in the water environment, in the rest – in the air.
The design of the wheelchairs shall provide the ability to install and reflective signal elements.
Of course, the consumer can not independently determine all of the above safety indicators. In this regard, prams produced and imported into the country must be subjected to a mandatory assessment (confirmation) of compliance with the requirements of this technical regulation before being put into circulation on the market.
To determine the degree of danger for each of the criteria, tests are carried out by accredited testing laboratories and if the product meets the requirements of the technical regulations, the conformity assessment body issues the applicant a certificate of compliance.
In this regard, when purchasing a baby stroller, the buyer must be required to provide a document confirming the safety of the product, i.e. a certificate of compliance.
