The agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan has a great prospect of development and access to foreign markets. In addition to the standard requirements imposed by importing countries for agricultural products, there are requirements for certification of good agricultural practices GlobalG.A.P.
Basykaraeva Zhansulu, the chief specialist of the Methodology and Standardization Department of the National Center for Accreditation of the KTRM of the MTI RK, told about this and other issues of the prospects for the implementation and development of certification according to GlobalG.A.P. standards in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- What are the GlobalG.A.P. standards?
GlobalG.A.P– is a recognized international system of standards for ensuring the safety of grown agricultural products and their compliance with existing quality and technical requirements. Certification in accordance with this standard is voluntary, but its main difference from national standards is that certification covers the entire production cycle, and not only the evaluation of the quality of the final product.
Currently, the GLOBALG.A.P. system has certified producers in more than 135 countries of the world, the total number of farms with a certificate exceeds 160,000. According to available information, out of the total number of certified farms, crop production (including fruits and vegetables) accounts for about 75%, livestock production - 15%, aquaculture - 10%.
- Why is it so necessary to implement certification according to this standard for agricultural products in the Republic of Kazakhstan today?
For Kazakhstan agricultural products to enter foreign markets, it is necessary to use a well-known name and a proven brand of a safe and high-quality product.
The introduction of new areas of accreditation and certification dictates the requirements of developed countries, whose markets are considered the most promising.
GLOBALG.A.P. is a recognized international system of standards for ensuring the safety of grown agricultural products and their compliance with existing quality and technical requirements.
To be competitive in the market of developed countries, it is necessary to enter retail chains under a recognizable quality mark in this country.
In this regard, domestic enterprises need not only to move to a new level of production, but also to apply international standards recognized almost all over the world.
GLOBALG.A.P. is the most widespread product safety certification system in the world.
The main engine of the GLOBALG.A.P. standard are retail chains, processing enterprises and catering enterprises. The guarantee of the safety of products on the shelves is one of the main requirements for the vast majority of leading companies and retail chains.
According to the analysis carried out by the National Accreditation Center, the certification of GLOBALG.A.P products and the membership of manufacturing enterprises opens up great opportunities to go directly to retailers with their products (retail facilities), which directly sell products to consumers, bypassing intermediaries (traders, resellers, etc.), thereby increasing the selling value of their products by 15 to 30%.
