Dear guests and participants of the forum!
On October 14, the world community celebrates World Standards Day. It is a well-recognized fact that standards make a huge contribution to our lives, playing an important role in ensuring quality, product safety, industrial development, trade and innovation.
The theme of this year's World Standards Day is "A common vision of a better world. Standards in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals". The Sustainable Development Goals are aimed at solving the most important global problems facing humanity today in order to ensure a more sustainable and prosperous future.
Standardization is an important tool that contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals and is actively used by the world community. The International Organization for Standardization ISO publishes international standards on an ongoing basis in support of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. About 30 thousand ISO standards are available to all countries in order to help solve global problems of humanity.
In Kazakhstan, in accordance with the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, the priority use of international standards is one of the key principles of standardization. This principle is implemented through a high level of harmonization of national standards with international ones, as well as the creation of conditions for the direct application of international standards and standards of foreign states by organizations and enterprises of the republic.
The celebration of World Standards Day this year plays a special role for all of us, and within the framework of this event, national authorities of all countries encourage people to participate in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
On behalf of the Technical Regulation and Metrology Committee, let me congratulate all participants on the World Standards Day, wish them success in their work and prosperity, as well as fruitful work at today's forum.
