JSC "Institute of Electric Power Industry Development and Energy Saving (Kazakhenergoexpertise)" and PF "Fund for Development of Parliamentarism in Kazakhstan" announce the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation to promote sustainable development and energy efficiency in the residential sector in the framework of the project "Civil Society for Sustainable and Energy Efficient City" with the support of the European Union.
The joint efforts of the Institute and FDPK will be aimed at mutual assistance in promoting and developing programs that promote energy efficiency in the residential sector and providing energy efficiency training to the public. This includes the introduction of innovative technologies, public education on energy saving and assistance in the development and implementation of effective regulatory mechanisms to reduce energy consumption.
According to the Institute, 47% of total energy consumption in Kazakhstan is in buildings, of which 31% is in residential buildings. To improve this situation, the Institute together with the FDPK, the Association "AOC Almaty", the Initiative "Housing in Eastern Europe" (IWO e.V.) and the Petropavlovsk Regional Association of AOC is planning an exhibition on "Sustainable Development and Energy Efficiency in the Residential Sector in the cities of Astana and Almaty. The exhibition aims to transfer Germany's experience in energy efficient modernization of apartment buildings, highlighting technological solutions and methods applied in this country and available to a wide audience.
"We believe that joint efforts with FDPK will lead to concrete results in the field of energy saving and sustainable development of housing stock. This is an important step towards the creation of an environmentally sustainable and energy efficient society," said Mr. Tolegen Bazarovich Omarbekov, Chairman of the Board of the Institute.
