KANAT SHARLAPAEV MEETS WITH DFC LEADERSHIP

During his first day of a working visit to the US, Kanat Sharlapaev, the Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, met with Nisha Desai Biswal, Deputy Director of DFC.

The discussions addressed key aspects of economic development and mutual increases in the volumes of bilateral trade. It was noted that the presence of American companies in Kazakhstan increased by 12% in 2023, underscoring the strengthening economic ties between our countries.

Special attention was given to Kazakhstan's unique opportunities in processing rare and rare-earth metals, such as titanium, beryllium, tantalum, and niobium, and possibilities for developing joint projects based on Kazakhstan's rich raw material base were explored.

The dialogue included discussions on current bilateral projects, including the construction of the Kazazot fertilizer production plant, the production of electric vehicle charging stations, and the development of projects for a container hub at Aktau port and a transport and logistics hub in West Kazakhstan.

Nisha Biswal expressed DFC's keen interest in deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan, highlighting the country's significant potential for implementing large-scale projects and expressed an intention to visit Kazakhstan for further discussions on cooperation prospects.

The DFC is a government agency whose activities cover development sectors by attracting private investments to developing countries. The agency specializes in supporting the economic development of its partners, as well as the economic interests of its own country.

This meeting was a landmark event, confirming the strategic orientation of Kazakhstan and the US towards further expansion and deepening of bilateral investment cooperation.
