The head of the MIID RK inspected the progress of the roadwork of the Taldykorgan-Kalbatau-Ust-Kamenogorsk project

Reconstruction of the Taldykorgan-Kalbatau-Ust-Kamenogorsk highway continues. The Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development Beibut Atamkulov visited the construction sites and checked the progress of work together with the Chairman of the Committee for Roads of the MIID RK Sairanbek Barmakov and the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC “KazAvtoZhol” Ulan Alipov.

In 2017, a large-scale project for the reconstruction of a highway with a length of 763 kilometers began. For three years, the road workers have almost completed work and this year it is planned to open traffic for transport along the entire route. The main purpose of the reconstruction is to transfer the road from the third technical category to the first and second with a widening of the carriageway to ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic.

Thus, from Taldykorgan to Ust-Kamenogorsk after completion of reconstruction at an acceptable speed, it will be possible to get in 7-8 hours. It is noteworthy that the route is one of the important arteries leading to the resort area of Lake Alakol, so the implementation of the project is important for the tourism cluster of Kazakhstan. For example, from Ust-Kamenogorsk to the resort area, Kazakhstanis will be able to get in 4-5 hours.

The head of the MIID RK visited three reconstruction sites in Almaty and East Kazakhstan regions. Full-scale road construction works are being carried out here, in which about 3,000 people are involved. The general contractors are Todini Central Asia LLP, K-Dorstroy JSC and CITIC Construction Co, LTD.

It is worth noting that the major repair works of the Taldykorgan-Kalbatau-Ust-Kamenogorsk highway were last carried out almost 20 years ago.

Let us remind that in 2020, Kazakhstan will open traffic on 2600 km of national roads.
