The Minister of defence the General-Lieutenant Nurlan Yermekbayev presented the newly appointed chief of military police of Armed Forces of Kazakhstan Colonel Marat Dasaolu of Nurymbet.
Colonel Marat Nurymbet is a graduate of the Kazakh state law Institute. He served in various senior positions in the system of the national security Committee and the state security Service. Has experience in organizing counterintelligence and operational search activities, countering terrorist acts.
Taking into account the importance of the tasks assigned to the military police, the head of the defense Department introduced the chief of the Main military police Department personally.
As the Minister noted: "Today, the defense Department has two priorities: fighting corruption and ensuring the security of the service. These tasks are largely assigned to the military police." Last year, two new departments were created in the structure of the Main Directorate of the military police, which are charged with the tasks of countering corruption and monitoring the security of the military service.
According to the Minister, unlike other law enforcement agencies, the Armed Forces do not have their own security service, but the Armed Forces, like no other state body, are under the close attention of a number of controlling and Supervisory structures. This puts increased demands on the cleanliness of the ranks of military personnel.
As a result of the anti-corruption measures taken from 2015 to 2019, the number of corruption crimes in the Armed Forces decreased by more than four times. In 2019, only 6 corruption crimes were committed, while from 2015 to 2018, this number was from 17 to 34. At the same time, there has been a certain increase in such crimes this year. For seven months of 2020, the number of corruption crimes was 25. However, for many of them, no final procedural decision has been made.
It should be noted that the amounts of these crimes are relatively small – mainly from 6 to 50 thousand, 200 thousand tenge. These crimes are not related to budget funds.
The Ministry of defense is currently working to foster zero tolerance for any offenses.
The Minister thanked retired Colonel Baurzhan Lekerov, who served as head of the Main military police Department from October 2017 to the present.
