In the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, at the direction of Minister of Defence Lieutenant General of Aviation Dauren Kosanov, specialists from the Department of Information Technology have developed the “Digital Training for Unit Commanders” portal.
The web resource is hosted on a restricted segment of the Ministry of Defence’s network. It allows users to learn the basics of automated systems for managing troops and resources, familiarize themselves with artificial intelligence technologies in the military sphere, and understand the levels of deployment of a local computer network.
As Deputy Minister of Defence Darkhan Akhmediev explained, a commander must be a catalyst for technological change, capable of helping personnel adapt to the use of new digital tools and ensuring their effective application in their duties. Under the new requirements, before being appointed to the position of commander of a military unit or institution, a candidate must mandatorily complete an online test on the portal. The results are reviewed by the leadership of the Ministry of Defence.
In today’s environment, a commander must not only be proficient in digital competencies but also actively promote the adoption of modern information technologies and innovative solutions in the unit’s day-to-day operations.
This will improve management efficiency, speed up decision-making, enhance the quality of planning and oversight, and ensure the unit’s readiness to carry out its missions amid the digital transformation of the military sector.
In light of these new requirements, training sessions have been organized for commanders across all military command bodies, formations, and units of the Armed Forces to improve their digital literacy and familiarize them with automated command and control systems, artificial intelligence technologies, modern data processing and analysis tools, secure information and communication technologies, and digital tools for unit management.
