Kazakhstan Holds First Graduation Ceremony for Reserve Officers Specializing in “Cybersecurity”

More than 170 reserve officers and sergeants have completed their training at the Military Engineering Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications. The highlight of the graduation was the first-ever graduation of reserve officers in the history of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the military specialty “Cybersecurity”. Reserve sergeants also completed their training in the specialty “Communications”.

The training culminated in a solemn ceremony for taking the Military Oath, attended by students from leading civilian universities who had successfully completed the military training programs.

The training was conducted without interrupting their regular studies and included theoretical classes, practical training, and military field training. Future reserve officers specializing in “Cybersecurity” practiced protecting information systems and countering cyberattacks, while reserve sergeants specializing in “Communications” learned to deploy and operate modern communications equipment.

“Today’s Armed Forces need specialists capable of working effectively in a high-tech environment. Therefore, in the training of reserve officers and noncommissioned officers, special attention is paid not only to theoretical knowledge but also to practical exercises that simulate the challenges service members may face in real-world conditions. Training in cybersecurity and communications helps produce specialists who are in high demand amid the rapid development of digital technologies,” noted Major Zhanarbek Kerimkulov, Methodologist of the Academic Mobility Department of the Institute of Military Engineering, Radioelectronics and Communications.

Azamat Nabiev, a student at Almaty Technological University, became one of the first graduates of the new military-accredited specialty “Cybersecurity”.

“The training gave us not only professional knowledge but also an understanding of the high level of responsibility borne by a military specialist. We learned to work as a team, make decisions under challenging conditions, and apply our knowledge in practice. Taking the military oath confirmed our readiness to serve our homeland and use the skills we’ve acquired to ensure its security,” he emphasized.

The Military Engineering Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications continues to expand its list of military-related specialties in line with current requirements for ensuring the nation’s defenсe capability. Starting in 2025, the institute will begin training reserve officers in the specialty of air defenсe. Given the widespread use of unmanned aerial vehicles, such specialists will play a crucial role in defending the country’s airspace.

Since the launch of military training programs at the institute, more than 190 reserve officers and sergeants have been trained in modern military specialties. Their training is conducted in the interests of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account the development of modern technologies and changes in the nature of armed conflict.
