PRESS RELEASE to the draft order of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On Amendments to the Order of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 22, 2022 № 196 «On setting minimum retail prices for cigarettes with a filter, without a filter, cigarettes»

 

The project was developed by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On State regulation of the production and turnover of tobacco products» (hereinafter referred to as the Law) subrunct 2-1) of Article 5 «establishes minimum retail prices for cigarettes with a filter, without a filter, cigarettes, cigarillos and products with heated tobacco».

The project was developed to implement a balanced tax and pricing policy in relation to tobacco products, to promote the achievement of health goals aimed at reducing the spread and use of tobacco and tobacco smoking.

The implementation of the Project will not require the allocation of funds from the republican budget.

The adoption of the Project will not entail negative socio-economic and/or legal consequences.

The aim of the implementation is to increase the minimum retail prices for cigarettes with a filter, without a filter, cigarettes, cigarillos and products with heated tobacco.

The project complies with international treaties ratified by the Republic of Kazakhstan and decisions of international organizations to which the Republic of Kazakhstan is a party.

The deadline for public discussion of the Draft Order is June 10, 2024.
