Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dauren Temirbekov took part in an online meeting of the secretariat of the international PEFA (Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability) program.
Participants summarized the results of an independent assessment of Kazakhstan's public finance management system for 2022–2024. The assessment was conducted at the initiative and with the support of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
PEFA is an international methodology that allows for a comprehensive assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a country's financial management. The results of the study showed that since the previous assessment, Kazakhstan has made significant progress in budget reforms, increasing the transparency of financial flows, and strengthening financial discipline. These achievements have secured Kazakhstan a leading position among the countries of Central Asia.
A positive PEFA assessment helps build international trust and can have a positive impact on a country's credit rating. It confirms the effectiveness of the government's financial policies and opens up additional opportunities for dialogue with international partners and investors.
