Pursuant to the instructions of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, the Ministry of Finance continues to systematically monitor the modernization of customs checkpoints.
Ernar Yerzhanov, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with Bakytzhan Slyamov, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, visited the busiest crossings on the border with China — the Maikapchagai and Bakhty checkpoints (East Kazakhstan region and Abai region), Dostyk Automotive (Zhetysu region), and Kalzhat" (Almaty region).
Work is underway at the facilities to expand traffic lanes, introduce intelligent flow control systems, and install modern scanners and weighing systems. Contractors are ordered to increase the pace of construction. The contractor has been transferred to a 2-shift job with the involvement of additional equipment.
Based on the results of the audit, it was recommended that the State Revenue Committee consider the issue of compliance with the position of the head of the Maikapchagai post.
"Monitoring will be carried out daily, personal responsibility is inevitable," stressed the head of the Finance Ministry Staff.
International importance
• Dostyk Automotive plays a key role in ensuring the stability of the China–Europe transit corridors, including the Trans-Caspian International Route.
• Kalzhat is considered as a promising channel for exporting Kazakh agricultural products to China and ensuring the return flow of consumer goods.
A vector for digitalization and transparency
Solutions for online monitoring of cargo flows are being implemented at all checkpoints. This will not only speed up border crossing, but also minimize corruption risks.
Expected effect
The implementation of the projects will create a new standard for the quality of customs service: fast and transparent control, predictable deadlines, favorable conditions for business and international carriers. In the future, this will strengthen Kazakhstan's role as a key transit bridge between Europe and Asia, ensure the growth of trade turnover and new opportunities for the domestic economy.
