Kazakh Foreign Minister holds meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and India

MOSCOW, September 10, 2020 - On the sidelines of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi held meetings with the foreign minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Chingiz Aidarbekov, and the foreign minister of the Republic of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

With Chingiz Aidarbekov, Kazakh Foreign Minister discussed relevant issues of Kazakh-Kyrgyz multifaceted cooperation and implementation of the agreements reached as a result of bilateral visits at the highest and high levels.

The parties considered in detail the resumption of transport communication between the states, as well as the border-crossing regime for citizens of both republics. The Kyrgyz side expressed special gratitude to Kazakhstan for the assistance provided in fighting coronavirus and joint work on returning Kyrgyz citizens to their homeland.

Foreign ministers of the two countries also considered the issues of interaction within international and regional organizations.

Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar noted the high dynamics of political cooperation and exchange of visits at the highest level between Kazakhstan and India.

The parties were pleased with the growth in trade between the countries. Between January and May of 2020, it reached $1.57 billion, double compared to the same period in 2019.

Mr. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of further expanding the Kazakh-Indian cooperation in spheres that include energy, investment, pharmaceuticals and logistics.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue close interaction in order to implement the previously reached agreements, as well as jointly conduct a number of functions aimed at further enhancing the strategic partnership between Nur-Sultan and New Delhi.

India and Kyrgyzstan welcomed the forthcoming chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
