Dear Kazakhstan diplomats!
Dear veterans!
28 years ago, on July 2, the Head of State signed a decree on the creation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of independent Kazakhstan.
Despite the complex situation of that time, thanks to the dedication and professionalism of the very first employees of the Ministry, the foundation, basic concepts and principles of the diplomatic service have been formed practically from scratch.
Huge work has been done to open the first representative offices abroad, and to address personnel and financial issues of the country’s diplomatic service.
Thanks to the activities of the older generation, a unique “spirit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs” has been created.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank our veterans for the formation of our service, and to express sincere respect to them. You deserve all the credit for the current success and accomplishments of our state in the international format!
Distinguished colleagues!
I would like to highlight that under the leadership of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the Leader of the Nation, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the foreign policy of our country has been developing on the basis of relations under the principles of pragmatism, constructivism and mutually beneficial cooperation.
To date, we have established diplomatic relations with 182 countries and have ensured the entry of our country into all key international organizations. Kazakhstan has 98 overseas agencies and is represented in 103 countries.
We have created a solid legal framework of more than 3,700 international multilateral and bilateral treaties, which covers the entire spectrum of national interests and the most pressing issues on the international agenda.
The signing and entry into force of international treaties on the delimitation of the state border of Kazakhstan is one of the important achievements of Kazakh diplomacy. Today, our external borders are regarded as the frontier of good-neighborly relations and cooperation.
Kazakhstan grew from a “consumer of security” and an inexperienced beginner in world politics in the first years of its independence into a “generator of stability” and became a mediator, actively participating in the settlement of a number of international conflicts.
However, despite significant achievements in the international arena, we cannot stop at the results achieved; large-scale work awaits us. Transformation of old situations and development of new complex positive or negative processes is occurring around the world. Our task is to respond to the challenges adequately and effectively and to use the newly opened opportunities fully and fruitfully.
In this regard, we expect the modern generation of diplomats to apply creative solutions, work diligently, and constantly improve their professional capacities. This will facilitate the transition of the Foreign Ministry to a completely new level.
In addition, this year is the year of combating the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has become a global concern and impeded the development of international relations.
After WHO announced the COVID-19 outbreak a global pandemic, our Ministry and diplomatic missions abroad made every effort to return Kazakh citizens back home and took part in receiving medical assistance and equipment from foreign countries.
In this regard, I would like to make a specific mention of the work conducted by the unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specifically established during the in-country state of emergency and lockdown, as well as note the active participation of consuls and other colleagues in this work.
We are still facing a number of ambitious challenges and objectives that must be achieved. I am urging everyone to accomplish them and continue our consistent joint work as a single mechanism!
Dear colleagues,
I heartily congratulate you on today's occasion and express my sincerest gratitude for the fruitful work in foreign policy.
I wish you success in your work for the benefit of our sovereign state, prosperity, happiness, good health to your families, as well as peace and prosperity to our country!
