Foreign Policy Research Institute's regular meeting

NUR-SULTAN, June 5, 2020 - The third meeting of the Board of Directors of the Foreign Policy Research Institute JSC (FPRI JSC) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov.

During the meeting, A. Shakirov noted that the effectiveness of research and analytical support of the country's foreign policy primarily depends on the relevance of the issues studied in the direct context of modern challenges and strategic interests of Kazakhstan. The starting point of this process is the Concept of the Foreign Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2020-2030, and other documents related to the policies of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The participants discussed the implementation of the Institute's development plan for the coming years, approved changes to its organizational structure, and identified priority areas for research.

In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi emphasized that the Institute was created following the instructions of the Head of State. The purpose of the think-tank is to organize the qualitative study of external political processes in the conditions of instability and the growing contradictions between the major players, and to strengthen the MFA’s information and analytical activities to systematize the study of foreign policy. The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors for the work accomplished and wished further success.

Since the beginning of this year, FPRI JSC has prepared 45 information and analytical materials, more than half of which were forwarded to the Executive Office of the President, the Executive Office of the First President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy and the Prime Minister. In addition, the reports of the Institute are requested by the structural units of the MFA in the development of practical recommendations for the implementation of priorities of the foreign policy of Kazakhstan, and in the identification of important trends in global politics and economics, national and international security.
