After the event, the Kazakh Foreign Minister was received by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Tileuberdi expressed condolences on behalf of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Government and the people of Kazakhstan.
The Minister noted the special contribution of Shinzo Abe, one of the most outstanding leaders of modern Japan, to the development of Kazakh-Japanese relations. Abe paid an official visit to Kazakhstan in 2015 and initiated the expansion of bilateral cooperation to the level of expanded strategic partnership.
In response, Prime Minister Kishida expressed gratitude for the support of the Kazakh people and conveyed his best wishes to President Tokayev.
Abe remains in the memory of his people as an outstanding politician who was the longest serving Prime Minister of Japan. This was the second state funeral of a former Prime Minister in Japan’s history after World War II, the first being in 1967 when the country said goodbye to Yoshida Shigeru.
