Kazakhstan and Russia to strengthen multilateral cooperation in Asia

Moscow, July 18, 2022 – As part of a work trip to Russia, Adil Tursunov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan met with Igor Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the state and prospects for the development of Kazakh-Russian cooperation within multilateral platforms in Asia.

The counterparts particularly emphasized the issues of interaction between the two countries within the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Russia highly appreciated the work carried out by the Kazakh chairmanship to increase the activities of CICA and expressed support for the transformation of CICA into an international organisation.

Following the conversation, the diplomats agreed to continue active engagement in order to successfully hold the 6th CICA Summit, as well as consolidate cooperation between the two countries within multilateral platforms in Asia.
