The meeting of the Commission on Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction under the President of Kazakhstan

Nur-Sultan, December 23, 2021 – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi chaired the regular 18th meeting of the Commission on the Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The purpose of the Commission is to coordinate the work of government agencies of Kazakhstan to fulfill our international obligations in the non-proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, as well as to implement Kazakhstan's global initiatives in nuclear disarmament.

The Commission considered the issues of strengthening the country's nuclear and biological security, the functioning of the IAEA Low Enriched Uranium Bank, consolidating the export control system, preparing the country for participation in the Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the 1st Conference of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
