National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO holds its annual meeting

ASTANA, 5 July, 2018 - The Annual meeting of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO was held at the National Museum of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was held under the leadership of Mr. Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, Chairman of the National Commission - Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main report on the activities of the National Commission was delivered by Mr. Yerzhan Ashikbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Commission - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting summarized the outcomes for 2017 and identified goals and tasks for a period ahead. Main emphasis was laid on the protection of Kazakhstan's world cultural, natural and intangible cultural heritage sites, the implementation of programs and projects in the field of education, science, culture, information, development of a regulatory framework for preserving world heritage sites using the best international practices, the conclusion of the Agreement for creating the International Center for Rapprochement of Cultures in Almaty, ensuring the operation of the Regional Glaciological Centre, etc.

Permanent members of the National Commission, heads of state agencies concerned, specialized national committees, Kazakh universities, Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associated Schools, as well as prominent figures of education, science and culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the meeting.
