Almaty, October 31, 2020 - A tree planting ceremony was held in the Botanical garden of Almaty as part of the environmental project "Alley of Peace". The event, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, was attended by more than 40 representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in Almaty.
According to the Head of the Foreign Ministry's Office in Almaty, Yerlan Iskakov, the initiator of the "Alley of Peace" was the Public Association "Diplomatic Club of Almaty", with the support of the country's Foreign Ministry.
The project was implemented thanks to the active support of the management of the Main Botanical garden, the regional project of the world food organization (FAO) and the Global environment facility (GEF) "Integrated management of natural resources in drought-prone and saline agricultural production landscapes in Central Asia and Turkey" and other stakeholders.
Almaty "Alley of Peace" is designed to become a new place of attraction for people with different interests in the city, forming a comfortable oasis of the "Community of Peace" in the heart of the metropolis, which corresponds to the growth of environmental awareness and the task of implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
