Foreign Minister addresses UN platform on global security

NUR-SULTAN, October 1, 2020 - Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi took part in a high-level video conference of the Horasis independent analytical center. The event, devoted to the 75th anniversary of the UN, was also addressed by the President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General on the Preparations for the Commemoration of the UN’s 75th Anniversary, Fabrizio Hochschild.

The main topic of the discussion was the international community’s multilateral efforts in tackling the coronavirus pandemic and other global challenges. The participants agreed that the UN should play a leading role in coordinating this process. As President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted at the general debate of the UN’s 75th session, the Organization should coordinate international efforts to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, accelerate economic recovery and improve global governance.

This forum brought together senior members of the Horasis Global Visions Community and consisted of over 20 plenary sessions and panel discussions. The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, made a welcoming speech.

The Horasis Center was established in 2005 with the aim of realizing the goals for a sustainable future by creating new platforms for cooperation and knowledge exchange, in particular between developed countries and emerging markets.
