In an article written by the MediaScan on November 21, 2022 edition on the snap presidential elections held in Kazakhstan on 20 November, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Croatia Altay Abibullayev noted among a number of other issues, the developing state of economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Croatia, and cited Kazakh statistics according to which bilateral trade turnover between the two countries will have doubled in 2021 to a total of USD 680 million – “which is the largest mutual exchange of goods in the history of Kazakh-Croatian cooperation.”
“Kazakhstan and Croatia are located on the historic route of the Great Silk Road, which has been connecting Europe and Asia for centuries. Both countries should renew both their transport and transit cooperation, and create a win-win bilateral formula by using our advantages,” said Abibullayev and also noted that there are real prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, mechanical engineering, agriculture, pharmacy, tourism, sports, healthcare and maritime infrastructure.
Abibullayev also cites Kazakh statistics according to which bilateral trade turnover between the two countries will double in 2021 to a total USD 680 million, which would make it “the largest mutual exchange of goods in the entire history of Kazakh-Croatian cooperation.”
More than 20 Croatian companies are currently successfully operating in Kazakhstan in the fields of construction, healthcare, IT technologies, trade and services -- and the start of work by the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Croatia is expected soon, noted by Abibullayev.
Following the snap presidential elections in Kazakhstan, Abibullayev expects a strengthening, and even an expansion of the ties with Croatia will “certainly be a part of Kazakhstan's foreign policy, given the strong foundations” the two countries have already established.
