Astana, July 19, 2024 – Deputy Foreign Minister Nazira Nurbayeva met with Helaina Matza, Acting Special Coordinator for the Partnership on Global Infrastructure Investment (PGI). During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for investment in projects in the fields of transportation and logistics, clean energy production, agricultural products, and the mining and processing of rare earth metals.

The G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment program aims to invest $600 billion by 2027 for infrastructure projects in developing countries.

During the negotiations, Nazira Nurbayeva spoke about the prospects for the development of transportation infrastructure in Kazakhstan, including through the sea ports of Aktau and Kuryk, and the implementation of projects in the fields of clean energy production, critical minerals, and agricultural products. The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that the Central Asian region has significant potential for long-term partnership in these areas and expressed Kazakhstan's readiness to cooperate with the United States to achieve common goals.

Helaina Matza, in turn, noted that the G7 countries are ready to invest up to $200 billion USD in infrastructure projects in Central Asia, and Kazakhstan is one of the main directions for implementing such projects. The main goal of the program is to strengthen and diversify supply chains to ensure global food and energy security by expanding trade relations between Central Asian countries and subsequently accessing European markets.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop cooperation to implement significant infrastructure projects and strengthen economic ties.
