The Head of State received U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai

Astana, June 14, 2024 - President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that  Katherine Tai’s visit plays an important role in expanding trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States.

As the Head of Kazakhstan noted, over the past three decades our countries have strengthened strategic partnership in many areas, including trade, investment, security, human rights and democracy.

- Your country is one of the largest investors in the economy of Kazakhstan. The total volume of foreign direct investment exceeds 65 billion dollars. Last year, trade turnover between our countries reached a record $4.1 billion, showing a 30 percent growth. Currently, more than 600 American companies are successfully operating in Kazakhstan. I attach special importance to improving investment attractiveness, liberalizing the economy and supporting industrial development, said Kasym-Jomart Tokayev.

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the warm welcome and the opportunity to personally discuss new approaches to the development of trade relations and create the necessary conditions for strengthening economic cooperation, including in the context of the implementation of the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investment (TIFA).
