The Race in Honor of the 100th Anniversary of Heroes of Kazakhstan Took Place in Washington, DC

Washington, May 18 2024 - In the capital of the United States, a race was held in honor of the 100th anniversary of two outstanding personalities in Kazakhstan’s history, heroes of the Great Patriotic War - the first Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sagadat Nurmagambetov, and Lieutenant Rahymzhan Kosharbayev, the first officer to raise a victory flag on the Reichstag building.

The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United States as a demonstration of respect and honor to the compatriot heroes. The race was attended by family members of the Embassy staff, representatives of the Kazakh diaspora in the USA, as well as the "Bolashak " scholarship program fellows.

The participants covered a distance of 5 km, following a route marked with the inscription “100 jyl” (100 years) in honor of this significant anniversary.

The event became not only a sign of appreciation for heroic actions but also a symbol of solidarity and unity among the Kazakh people in the United States.
